Can Someone Please Add a Few More Hours to the Day?
It has been a whirlwind of activity here--this is the busiest I've ever been at school. My classes have kept me pretty busy, and I'm also taking yoga classes twice a week, so most of my free time is spent either studying or being catatonic. I manage to get some knitting in there every now and then, though.

I got advised for next semester a little over a week ago, and it looks like I'm going to be a junior next year. Yup, I'll be graduating a semester early, and I only have to take about 13 hours a semester to do it. No more 16-hour semesters for me, I tell you what. I'm looking forward to all of the wonderful Psychology classes that will be opened up to me next semester; now I just have to get through Psych 2990 and I'll be okay. I am not looking forward to that class; it's basically the same as 2980 (which I'm currently taking), but it's more difficult and it's worth four hours. Isn't Stat and 2980 enough? Geez. I'm not even going to be a Research psychologist anyway.

I love my French class just as much as I thought I would. We've been studying a lot of really good movies (including Amelie), and now we're on Cyrano de Bergerac, one of my favorites. I already have the DVD, so I don't have to go to the library or the SLC to watch it. M. Pendergrass is a really good professor too, but because I almost never hear him speak English, I have no idea where he's from. My best guess is that he's Canadian.

Knitting-wise, I have a few projects going on. I've been making some progress on Kacie's sweater, but because I'm working on size 3s, it's taking a little while. It's going to be gorgeous when it's done, though--the colors go together beautifully. I'm also working on a scarf for Kalan. I like being able to knit something for him while we're apart; it makes me feel closer to him whenever I'm working on it. I hope that I can finish it before Fall Break, so I need to pick up another ball of yarn sometime soon. I've also got lots of different colored skeins of yarn set aside specifically for hats; winter will be coming soon, and I'm going to be prepared this time, dammit.

I'm still incredibly into German metal right now; the latest addition to the bunch is Oomph. Their lyrics leave something to be desired, but the music is really good, not to mention addictive. I'm constantly going back to "Gott is ein Popstar" and "Traumst Du" on their most recent album, GlaubeLiebeTod. "Gott ist ein Popstar" has a pretty sweet music video, too. Everyone likes a hot Jesus.

Life at Bolton has gotten more bearable overtime. Sure, it's still boring as hell, but at least I'm not ready to bolt out of there at any given moment. I thought about becoming a blackshirt, but I realized that I really don't have the time for it; I'm hard-pressed as it is now. So, we'll see what happens there.

CCT: Augenblick
Sunday is coming faster than I can keep up with and I still have so many things I need to do. These last few days need to slow down a bit so I can enjoy my time in Columbus while I can.

Amazingly, yes, I've had fun in Columbus over the summer. I got to spend a lot of time with Kalan and I got a ton of knitting done. There's been quite a bit of drama down here, but nothing I can't get over. I'm also glad Lauren could be here before we go back to Athens because I've missed her. Having the room to myself this whole time has allowed me to learn a lot about myself, and I'm happy for that. Kalan and I have really grown closer over the summer too, and I know I'll really miss him when I leave. I haven't been thinking about it lately because I know it's going to be a really tough day. I'm just glad that Kalan's new job will make it easier for him to come and visit me during the year.

Knitting-wise, I'm still waiting for the rest of Kacie's sweater yarn to get here, and I am not happy. It's been nearly a month since I ordered the yarn, and I was told that the rest of the yarn would be shipped about a week after the first package, but I still haven't received anything. I'm going to e-mail them in the morning so I can get my damn yarn and knit that sweater already. In the meantime, I've almost completed the tunic, I'm partway through the other kneesock, and I'm 95% done with the Tab Trim Top from the art issue of Knit.1 magazine. I need to sew the belt on straight and weave in the rest of the ends. That top was a very fast knit; I bought the yarn on Saturday, knit most of the back Sunday, finished the back and cast on the front Monday, finished the front and half of the belt on Tuesday, and finished the belt and sewed the top together Wednesday (by the way, the clock on my entries is wrong; it's actually 1:11 AM right now). I might finish it now, but I'm pretty tired, so I might save it for tomorrow. I just hope it'll look good on me.

I'm going to meet with Jon and Justin so we can play some of our songs together again before I go back to Athens. I e-mailed Jon tabs of some of my songs so we can get back into it. I haven't played with them in a long time, and I'm looking forward to it. Geimer's trying to get revenge for my crazy dominating in Monopoly by beating me in Cashflow, but we'll see about that. Bwah.

Man, I need to get my stuff together for Sunday. But, I think I'll save that for the morning. Good night, everyone.

CCT: Everybody Yarngasm!
I've received several surprises from the mail over the past few days in the form of some truly delish yarn. On Monday, Kalan showed up at my door with the three skeins of sock yarn I won off Ebay (I had borrowed his screen name to order them), two of which were the German flag-colored skeins. They're all sitting lovingly by my bed, just waiting to be knitted up into warm, wooly socks.

Today, the UPS man made a drop-and-run at my doorstep (seriously--the guy was in his truck by the time I opened the door, and I was just in the den when he knocked) and I found a small box from The Knitting Garden. Inside was the two skeins of sock yarn I had ordered for myself (beautiful Regia 4-ply in Zansibar; very autumny) and just three skeins out of the ten I ordered for Kacie's sweater. I'm wary about it, but the rest should be coming in in about a week. Unfortunately, there's no way I can start on the sweater with the colors I received, so I have no choice but to wait even longer. What's weird to me is that the color Zeal that I ordered looked like a cream color on the website, but seeing it in front of me, it's actually a light green. A little bizarre, but it should still go well with the other sweater colors. I think purple. white, and green will look very springy together; I just hope that Kacie doesn't mind.

On the upside, the other color I received was Hyacinth, which actually looks more purple in real life than it did on the website (it looked more blue there). So that means it'll go better with the color scheme than I expected. Pretty nice.

Whilst waiting for the sweater yarn to arrive, I knitted an olive green hat today complete with a black and purple flower. I'm particularly proud of this hat because it's the first one I've made that actually fit me. I'd been working with patterns that didn't provide a stitch gauge before, so this time I didn't use a set pattern. I just followed the sizing formula that Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (the well-known Yarn Harlot) described in her newest book, Knitting Rules! The formula worked out perfectly, and now I have a really cute knit hat that actually fits. Hooray! I plan on making another one with that one skein of Noro Kureyon I bought a while ago.

I'm sorely tempted to cast on a new pair of socks since I have even longer to wait for my sweater yarn. I'm off to browse through some patterns.

CCT: Lazy Summer Days at the Speed of Light.
It's hard to believe that I'll be returning to Athens in a little less than a month now. Summer plodded along at a fairly relaxing rate until July hit and the World Cup ended; all of a sudden, the days have been flying by, and already we're in the middle of the month. The World Cup ended with a disappointing Italian victory (disappointing to me, anyway) and an astonishing tarnish of a beautiful soccer career.

Everyone is still abuzz about Zidane's shocking heatbutt against Materazzi during the final game; it's in the news, the papers, and even a few internet spoofs. When I watched it happen, I was absolutely horrified. How could Zidane have done that? How could he have ended his amazing career with such an out of character temper flare? I can't help but think that if Zidane hadn't done it and been cast out of the game with a red card, France might have been able to win.

There have been a lot of rumors about what Materazzi might have said to Zidane that spurred the attack. Most agree that he was viciously insulting Zidane's mother and sister (something about them being terrorists?) and some racial comments to boot. Fortunately, it looks as though Zidane's character in the eyes of the people hasn't been affected; he's been forgiven in a way. Most point fingers at Materazzi for the things he said. All I know is, there's more talk about this incident than the actual Italian victory.

As Lauren has mentioned, Kalan and I are taking a trip up to Athens pretty soon. We're going to spend the day in Atlanta (hellooo Why Knot Knit!) and head over to Athens when Lauren gets off work. I need to give Eric a call and let him know when we're coming; he offered us a place to crash for the night at his apartment, which is awesome. We'll all go to dinner together and hang out, which I'm really looking forward to. I've saved up some money for the trip because I know I'll be buying some stuff in Atlanta. Hee.

Speaking of buying stuff, I finally got around to ordering the yarn for Kacie's sweater a few days ago. The website I ordered from offers free shipping for orders over $75, and since I was past that point anyway, I decided to order some sock yarn while I was there. In the meantime, I'm trying to finish a pair of socks I've been working on before the yarn arrives. I need to dedicate the rest of my knitting time to that sweater so I can finish it before I go back to Athens, which shouldn't be a problem. I can't wait until all the yarn I ordered gets here; sometimes I think I love yarn a little too much.

Kalan has a big Calc test tomorrow, so he went home early today to study. He called me about forty minutes ago to tell me that it was all clicking, so I'm confident he'll do well.

Porcupine Tree have announced a few more dates in the U.S. for their tour, and I'm hoping they'll go to a few more towns. They haven't named any in the south, so maybe--just maybe, they'll come back to Atlanta. Pretty please? I suppose we'll see what happens.

Je t'ai croisée
Un samedi soir
Et j'ai jeté sur ta silhouette
Une poignée d'épices colorées
Mon but était clair
