Well, looks like Weather.com was right; we've got a "wintry mix" going on, so classes have been cancelled. And, I also discovered that when classes are cancelled, the Tate Center stays closed too, so no work today.
I wanted to blog really quick because there's quite a bit of music news going on. First of all, Silverchair's website has posted a sneak peek of Silverchair's newest single "Straight Lines," as well as part of its music video. The video will be available in its entirety on the website and their MySpace page tomorrow. I watched the clip, and I think I'm going to have to hear more of it before I can give a proper opinion. At least it doesn't sound like the Dissociatives (which are brilliant on their own), but it definitely doesn't sound like Silverchair. That's not too much of a surprise, however, since Silverchair's sound tends to evolve with every new album. I'm going to have to hear the whole song to see if I like it.
As for Porcupine Tree, they've officially posted the tracklist for their newest album, "Fear of a Blank Planet." It is as follows:
1. Fear of a Blank Planet (7.28) 2. My Ashes (5.07) 3. Anesthetize (17.42) 4. Sentimental (5.26) 5. Way Out of Here (7.37) 6. Sleep Together (7.28)
I think it's interesting that they've decided to put only six tracks on this album (albeit long ones). My guess is that it's because of Steven Wilson's love of records and how you would listen to the entire album and you wouldn't be able to jump around tracks so easily like with CDs. It looks like it will be a very intriguing album.
As for Blackfield, they haven't posted any more tour dates, so it's safe to say they won't be coming to the southeast. That makes me very sad. At least Porcupine Tree should be coming down here for their new album; I'll be watching their tour dates page like a hawk.
Je t'ai croisée
Un samedi soir
Et j'ai jeté sur ta silhouette
Une poignée d'épices colorées
Mon but était clair
