All Work and No Play Makes Catherine a Little Sad.
Every now and then I find myself wondering how in the world the break is flying by so quickly, but I always know the answer: family drama, present-shopping, and work. The family drama has died down a bit since most of the family is currently out of town: Lauren is in New York with Seamus and his family, Eric is in Athens with Daphne, and Mom and Stan are in Atlanta celebrating their one-year wedding anniversary. So Kristen and I are hanging out around the house with Grandmother and Grandad, whom Mom called in to babysit us while she and Stan are gone. As infuriating as the principle of that concept is, having Grandmother and Grandad around hasn't been bad at all; in fact, it's been rather nice. No crazy tension, anger, or paranoia for miles. It's lovely. Hell, Grandmother and Grandad are generously allowing Peter to spend the night over here on New Year's Eve.

Another thing that has been making the time here fly by is my job. Since I've shown that I'm a good saleswoman, I've been getting a lot more hours than I did over the summer. I'm going to be working four straight days this week, from New Year's Eve to Wednesday. Counting today, that'll be five days in a row, and enough hours to equal full time. I'll be closing every day, including Tuesday when I have to stay in the store from 3:30 to midnight to help set up for the Semi-Annual Sale. At least I don't have to wear my uniform that day. I'm bummed that I have to close on New Year's Eve and then go in at 11 am New Year's Day, but at the very least, I'm making quite a bit of money. And, after Christmas, I need it.

I've been trying to make my time with Kalan count as much as I can. Unfortunately, we won't be going to Atlanta this time (neither one of us has the money for it), but he will be able to visit me in Athens at some point in January. I'll be looking forward to that.

Je t'ai croisée
Un samedi soir
Et j'ai jeté sur ta silhouette
Une poignée d'épices colorées
Mon but était clair
