All Pause for a Moment of Silence.

I was looking through an urban legends web site today when I came across the term "saltpeter." The word reminded me of a song of the same name by a band named Skindive--one of my most beloved bands that had unfortunately been obscured by my new obsessions with Porcupine Tree and Silverchair and the like. Feeling curious, I decided to check the band out on the internet to see what they were up to, since Skindive is my favorite female-fronted industrial band. I looked them up on Google, but no official site popped up. Confused, I tried the search again with slightly different wording, but to no avail; nothing. Discovering a well put-together fan site called Zero Now instead, I clicked on it to find out what was going on.

My friends, today is a very sad day. Skindive broke up--in October of last year. To make matters worse, they were steps away to releasing a second album. The band had recorded nearly all the tracks and had even named the album: "Precious." They had played some of the new songs at Ozzfest in Ireland and either had or were about to release the new single, "Falling Down." But, founder Gerry Owen left the band, and I guess lead singer Danielle Harrison couldn't hold the group together. They broke up, and the second album was scrapped. What a waste.

Yeah, this makes me unhappy. Their debut album was so good! I'm going to listen to it today in my time of mourning.

Je t'ai croisée
Un samedi soir
Et j'ai jeté sur ta silhouette
Une poignée d'épices colorées
Mon but était clair
